German Foreign Policy posted two articles about the NATO maneuver taking place in Norway.

(Own report) – A NATO war game, currently taking place in Norway, with the participation of elite units of the German Bundeswehr, includes training the deployment of nuclear arms against Russia. The exercise named “Cold Response” involves the use of B-52 bombers, particularly designed to drop nuclear bombs.

(Own report) – The participation of elite units of the German Bundeswehr in NATO’s current “Cold Response” exercise in Norway, is a demonstration of Germany’s growing interest in the Arctic. While the Bundeswehr is training in “winter warfare” skills, the German government, by its own admission, is seeking to make the polar region a “central focus of German policy.”

Die NATO solle zur Eindämmung der unkontrollierten Migration nach Europa beitragen. Von der Leyen hatte beim Treffen der NATO-Verteidigungsminister am 10./11. Kein Anita Augspurg Preis für die IFFF

Liebe Ligafrauen und freundinnen, gestern hat der Stadtrat beschlossen, dass die Gruppe München der Internationalen Frauenliga für Frieden und Freiheit (IFFF) den Anita Augspurg Preis *nicht erhält. Die Preisverleihung am 17.03.16 im Alten Rathaussaal wurde abgesagt.* Die Begründung dafür ist, dass die deutsche Sektion der Frauenliga 2010 einen internationalen Beschluss für Boycottmaßnahmen gegen israelische Waren unterstützt hat. In München haben wir diesen Beschluss damals  zur Kenntnis genommen, aber nicht umgesetzt, da unsere Schwerpunkte auf anderen Themen liegen. (siehe unsere u.s. … Continue reading →

European Security with EU and Nato

Background

The Maastricht treaty which was accepted by European Union 1991 included a Common Foreign and Security Policy. In the treaty Western European Union was pointed out as the military dimension of EU. It contained crisis management which some years later was included in the framework of EU. In 1998 EU agreed on a European Security and Defence Policy.

The cooperation with Nato has always had a high priority in EU. In September 2013 the European parliament accepted a resolution about EU:s military structures, where Nato plays an important role. A much closer military and political cooperation is proposed concerning risk management, administration of resources, strategic planning and implementation of military and civil missions.

Von Frank Schmälzle BAYREUTH. Die US-Bürgerrechtsbewegung Code Pink erhält den Wilhelmine-von Bayreuth-Preis für Humanität und Toleranz. Die Preisverleihung findet am 15. April statt. Das hat der Stadtrat am Mittwochabend mit 23 zu 18 Stimmen beschlossen. Code Pink war in den vergangenen Tagen in die Kritik geraten. Und damit auch die Stadt, die die umstrittene Bürgerrechtsbewegung für ihre Friedensarbeit auszeichnet.
