I have documented the use of toxic fire-fighting foam at more than a dozen NATO bases in Germany and I’ve analyzed the levels of one poison in particular – PFOS – in the rivers near these bases and in the fish caught near these bases. NATO allows the toxic chemicals to contaminate groundwater and surface water. PFOS never breaks down, so it likely will sicken people forever.
There could be more PFAS contamination in this seafood platter than drinking water containing 70 parts per trillion of the toxins every day for 80 years.
The Department of Defense is engaged in a campaign to convince the public that the PFAS contamination it has caused on military bases and in surrounding regions around the world is being cleaned up and that it is safeguarding public health by complying with the EPA’s lifetime health advisory of 70 parts per trillion (ppt) in drinking water. For the most part, both claims are false.
Massive carcinogenic PFAS Foam release from the Marine Corps Air Station Futenma.. There’s nothing the Okinawans can do to stop it. One teaspoon of this foam can poison a city’s drinking water reservoir. It genetically mutates living organisms and it never breaks down. It weakens immune systems during pandemics. The Pentagon’s Task Force Progress Report released on March 13, 2020 has the audacity to suggest that American military actions have satisfactorily addressed PFAS on military installations outside of the United States. Nothing could be further from the truth! The DOD has poisoned a variety of water sources in Germany, Japan, Guam, Diego Garcia, Honduras, and Belgium to name a few contaminated places.
Not a single major world media outlet reported on this outrageously false report. In classic form, the global warmakers published their long-awaited falsehoods when no one was paying attention.. The DOD announced that 250 new bases are poisoned, bringing the total to 651.
There are many lessons in my article below for people fighting American imperialism globally. The Pentagon is poisoning all of us while lying about it. Grab the low-lying poisonous fruit as an effective form of resistance.
Kathrin Vogler gestaltete dort gemeinsam mit ihrem MdB-Kollegen Alexander S. On March 3, 2020 Pat Elder gave a two-hour presentation to members of Veterans for Peace and other groups at the Church of the Crossroads in Honolulu, Hawaii. Pat spoke on the extent and the danger caused by the military’s contamination of the Aloha’s State’s water, soil, and air. Below, you’ll see an excellent video produced by Patricia Beekman, accompanied by links to Pat’s Powerpoint presentation and notes from the underground on Hawaii.
The U.S. military is poisoning most of Europe. Your crops and fish – and your bodies are full of American carcinogens – and it’s getting worse. The article here shows how the U.S. military propaganda machine works. First they’re silent, then they lie to you, and then they’re silent and the issue goes away. If the issue doesn’t go away right quickly, they’ll gather several of you, make it seem official, lie to you, and then the issue goes away. …Continue reading →
Here’s my latest piece on US military propaganda and contamination. There are lessons here for folks fighting militarism. The United States military is lying to the world about contamination caused by carcinogens routinely used in firefighting exercises on bases. They’re fabricating stories to escape liability for poisoning millions. They’re pretending to conduct science when the science already exists. Meanwhile, the Naval Research Lab in Washington operates a “testing lab” on the banks of the Chesapeake Bay 35 miles to the …Continue reading →
US agrees to immediately return 4 military bases to S. Korea http://english.hani.co.kr/arti/english_edition/e_national/920639.html The deliberations about who should be responsible for dealing with the contamination aren’t going smoothly. To date, there are no examples of the US taking responsibility for contamination and covering the cost of decontamination at military bases it has handed over in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. While the US acknowledges that the four bases are polluted, it reportedly denies that the contamination poses a “known, …Continue reading →
Why do weapon systems threaten people and the environment at the same time? by Reiner Braun A 2012 report from the US Congress found that the US Military is the largest single consumer of petroleum products in the USA and thus worldwide. According to recent report by researcher Neta C. Crawford, the Pentagon requires 350,000 barrels of oil per day. For better context of the extremity of this, the Pentagon’s greenhouse gas emissions in 2017 were 69 million more than …Continue reading →
