When the ‘No to War, No to NATO’ network was founded in 2008 as a platform for analysis, discussion and action, hundreds of peace and other social movement organisations joined it. Since then, the network has succeeded, together with local partners, in making its voice heard at major NATO summits and beyond through peace conferences, protest rallies, webinars, and the dissemination of critical analyses and positions via our website and partner organisations. 

Today, this network is more essential than ever. Following the Cold War, NATO evolved into a global military alliance and expanded its sphere of influence. Rather than bringing security, it strives for geopolitical dominance, and its actions and interventions lead to destabilisation and violence. NATO is the driving force behind the militarisation of our society. NATO wants member states to increase their military budgets and related expenditure to 5 per cent. This is a drain on public funds that are so desperately needed to meet social and environmental needs. It fuels the arms race, confrontation, and is undermining the international law system.

To strengthen the network and increase its impact, we have two important requests:

• Since the end of last year, the network has had a new manifesto open for any organisation or individual to sign. If your organisation is not yet listed among the signatories, you can still do so via this form. We also warmly urge you to invite other organisations or peace activists in your circles to sign the manifesto.
• To ensure the day-to-day running of the network and to fund our campaigns and activities, we rely on financial support from members and supporters. Although no formal membership fee is required, we do hope that you can contribute, however modest. You can do so via bank transfer:
