Last Wednesday the action group ‘Stop the War on Migrants’ held an unnannounced noise demonstration at the headquarters of European arms giant Airbus in the Dutch city of Leiden. The action, at the day of the annual shareholders meeting of Airbus here in Amsterdam, was in protest of both the arms exports of Airbus to countries in conflict and dictatorships, such as Saudi-Arabia and Egypt, and the role of the company in the militarisation and externalisation of the European borders.

Anspruch der EU, ein Imperium zu sein/entsprechend wird die Militarisierung vorangetrieben
Bremen. Auf Einladung des Bremer Friedensforums und der Partei Die Linke informierte Claudia Haydt auf einer Mahnwache auf dem Marktplatz und in einer Diskussionsveranstaltung über die Militarisierung der Europäischen Union. Sie schilderte, wie die Vorbereitungen zu einer EU-Militärunion auf Hochtouren laufen. Allein für das das Projekt „Ocean 2020“ werden viele Millionen zur Verfügung gestellt, unter anderem zur Entwicklung von Seedrohnen und unbemannten U-Booten, 35 Millionen Euro zur Verfügung gestellt. Die EU-Sicherheitspolitik gehört mit der EU-Außenpolitik zu den beiden Bereichen, die der EU-Kommission unterstehen, und keiner parlamentarischen Kontrolle ausgesetzt sind. Ihr jetziger Präsident Jean-Claude Juncker sieht in der Erwähnung des Militärs im Lissabon-Vertrag eine “schlafende Schönheit..; es ist Zeit, die schlafende Schönheit zu wecken.” Denn ohne Militär, so Juncker, sei die Union wie ein halb gebautes Haus. Die EU will ein Imperium sein. Sein designierter Nachfolger Manfred Weber (CSU) wird ohne Frage die militärische Seite der EU weiter und verstärkt vorantreiben. Außerdem ist nach Haydt davon auszugehen, dass führende deutsche Politiker eine EU als Atommacht unter deutscher Führung und damit eine Teilhabe Deutschlands an Atomwaffen anstreben.

Bremen. Eine ganze Reihe von Bremerinnen und Bremern folgten dem Aufruf des Bremer Friedensforum, sich auf dem Marktplatz gegen das Militärbündnis NATO zu versammeln, das 70 Jahre besteht und eine Blutspur hinterlässt. “Die NATO, die in Washington ihr 70-jähriges Bestehen feiert(e), hat – von Jugoslawien bis Libyen – eine verheerende und völkerrechtswidrige Politik betrieben. Sie hat auch ein verheerendes Denken in die Köpfe der Friedens- und Sicherheitspolitiker getragen, das nur eine Richtung kennt: Aufrüstung. Wir brauchen stattdessen eine Entmilitarisierung des Denkens. Wir brauchen kooperative Nachbarschaft statt Militarisierung und aggressive Konfrontation, wir brauchen Abrüstung statt Aufrüstung, und wir brauchen faire Handelsbeziehungen statt Ausbeutung des globalen Südens”, hieß es in einer Erklärung des Bremer Friedensforums anlässlich der Mahnwache. Zu Anfang sprach Hartmut Drewes, Mitglied des Sprecher*innenkreises Bremer Friedensforum und Pastor i.R.. Er rief Stationen der NATO in Erinnerung. Ihre Politik ist nach der Wende 1989 bis heute mit blutigen Kriegseinsätzen verbunden. Drewes schloss mit dem Satz: „70 Jahre NATO sind kein Grund zum Feiern, sondern ein Grund, für die Auflösung dieses Militärbündnisses zu kämpfen.“
Nach ihm kamen zehn Kurzbeiträge zum Thema von Annemarie Hildebrandt, Horst Otto, Rudolph Bauer, Ingeborg Kramer, Eva Böller, Frank Sperling, Hartmut Kath, Antonie Brinkmann und Joachim Barloschky. Barbara Heller moderierte die Aktion.
